The name is familiar and the reputation unblemished. It began back in 1875 in Japan when Tanaka Engineering Works became a major supplier of telegraphy equipment used in long distance communications and quickly earned the reputation for innovation in developing technologies. In 1939, Tanaka Engineering Works merged with Tokyo Electric Company and became Toshiba. World War II intervened, but soon after the war, Toshiba’s reputation began to grow as a leader and pioneer of some of the world’s most significant technologies. Company literature boasts that when the history of technology is written, their intention is to be included in every chapter.
Toshiba’s reputation for innovation and quality is undisputed. Toshiba has garnered more than 200 industry awards and product awards and is an eight-time winner of Marketing Research Consultant’s “Copier Manufacturer of the Year” award. While Toshiba’s technological heritage spans more than a century beginning with its roots in Japan, Toshiba America Business solutions, Inc. was formed in October 1999 as an independent operating company, headquartered in Irvine, California, home to Managed Print Experts.
Toshiba offers a wide range of products, from high-speed color MFPs to super-efficient black and white printers to scanners and fax machines. Their e-STUDIO line of copiers, printers, fax machines and scanners are well-known and respected in the industry and are backed by Toshiba’s Quality Commitment, an industry leading guarantee. Toshiba partners with other industry leaders, such as HP and Lexmark, to leverage its impact in fulfilling the needs of customers requiring the highest levels of quality and service.
Toshiba’s line of e-STUDIO multifaceted peripheral color machines are an example of their response to both the competition and their own individual research efforts. The e-STUDIO2040c/2540c/3040c from Toshiba bring mid-volume workgroups impressive color and high-volume black and white, integrating copy, print, scan and fax capabilities. Also, thanks to the integration of the new generation e-BRIDGE platform, features can be added later—similar to the way apps are added to smart phones. This platform also provides increased security, connectivity, manageability and energy saving.
The e-STUDIO2040c/2540c/3040c offer high-speed color and black and white at speeds up to 30 pages per minute. Image quality meets Toshiba’s standard of excellence, above and beyond the typical industry standard. These machines also have the ability to perform a multitude of tasks without interruption.
These Toshiba e-STUDIO models also offer expanded volume printing flexibility. Two 550-sheet universal cassettes come standard, and two 550-sheet cassettes can be added as well as a 2,500-sheet tandem feeder. Using a 100-sheet bypass, the total capacity is 3,700 sheets from 4 different paper sources. In addition, you can print impressive full color banners, posters and signs up to 12” by 47”.
Toshiba e-STUDIO MFPs also include a 50-sheet multi-position stapling finisher or saddle stitched finisher for booklets up to 60 pages as well as a hanging finisher that staples 50 sheets and holds up to 1000 pages.
There are numerous other optional features available. With cloud connection capability, you can scan-to and access documents stored in popular cloud based collaboration services such as Google Docs. Using Toshiba’s Advanced Scanning technology, documents can be scanned and stored in modifiable formats such as Microsoft Word and Excel for the utmost in mobile user productivity.
In addition to the three models highlighted here, Toshiba has a wide array of additional machines with variations on the features mentioned here as well as a vast copier dealer network. As an example of Toshiba’s commitment to innovative technology and creative information management solutions, it is worth mentioning a recent collaborative effort with Adobe to deal with the environmental impact of printing by optimizing the way individuals and businesses use toner and paper.
Adobe created a desktop print optimization software called LeanPrint that reduces paper and toner consumption by optimizing page layout. Using LeanPrint, organizations can achieve average savings of 40 percent when printing typical office documents. Toshiba is Adobe’s first partner to go to market with LeanPrint software and is a key collaborator in its development.
Pioneering a new science of printing less through implementing LeanPrint, Adobe and Toshiba hope to revolutionize the way we all print at home and in the office by saving time, money and ultimately the environment. For every supported document file format, LeanPrint has an ideal print output. LeanPrint first displays a preview, so that users can see the final document prior to sending it to the printer. LeanPrint analyzes document structure to create a print-optimized layout and prints documents in two modes: Super Saver and Toner Saver. In Super Saver mode LeanPrint saves both paper and toner while Toner Saver reduces ink and toner consumption.
For Toshiba, “Leading Innovation” is more than just a tagline. Throughout its history, Toshiba has delivered technology and products remarkable for their innovation and artistry – contributing to a safer, more comfortable, more productive life. They bring together the spirit of innovation with their passion and conviction to shape the future and help protect the global environment.
